Hi Class,
We have just watched G-force and learnt about movie reviews and ratings. Movie ratings such as G, PG, NC16 and M18 are used in our cinemas and the VCDs and DVDs that you buy.
1. Do you think that these ratings are good for the audience?
2. If yes, why do you think so? If no, why do you think so too?
3. Would you want to watch a movie that is beyond your age limit? Why?
4. Why do you think are some of the harmful effects of watching a movie that is above your age limit?
Best regards,
Mr Ng

T3W8:Graciousness
Hi Everyone,
This week, we will be writing our reflection on graciousness. By being gracious, we can help one another get on the day without showing anger or being impolite. This is more so in a densely populated city like Singapore where it is crowded everywhere. Mrs Nam has introduced the 'Magical Dust of Kindness' project where you are to show your graciousness by using the magical words. I hope you have been practising saying the magical words. To help you with the reflection, I have listed some questions to guide you. You are not to just answer the questions. Instead, you are to use these questions as a guide and add your own ideas, opinions and thoughts.
In this way, your reflection will be more meaningful and interesting. Here are the questions?
1. What is you meaning of 'graciousness'?
2. Can you give some examples of acts of graciousness?
3. What acts of graciousness have your personally done?
4. Besides the reasons I gave, what other reasons do you think we should be gracious to one another?
5. Do you think Singaporeans are generally gracious? Why do you think so?
6. How can we make Anderson pupils more gracious?
7. Do you like the 'Magical Dust of Kindness' project? Why?8. How have you benefited from this project?
I hope to read your reflection soon.Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Courtesy_Campaign_(Singapore)
Best regards,
Mr Ng
Today I am going to talk about Graciousness. Being gracious is an important part of life. 'Graciousness' means to say the golden words such as thank you, please, excuse me (e.t.c) These are words you say when someone has done good for you or you want someone to do something for you.I have seen quite a few acts of graciousness in this school. One of the one was when I remember my friend telling thank you to a parent volunteer for helping him. There is another good example when some Andersonians say excuse me kindly when someone is blocking their way.Even I like to thank my friends when they have done something good for me.As I have told "Graciousness" is a kind act to do and it also gives a good impression on yourself to others. They will think that you have manners.Yes, Singaporeans are gracious most of the time. Everywhere I go hear people especially saying thank you and excuse me.We can make Anderson more gracious by introducing more activities similar to the ' Magical Dust of Kindness'. These activities are interesting and I like it and it is also encouraging and rewarding.I have surely benefited from this project as I have learnt how to be more gracious. That is all I have to say about ' Graciousness ". I hope you have enjoyed reading this blog.

T3W4 Journal Writing : Cyber Addiction
Hi Everyone,
We just went through a video on the internet on Cyber Addiction. When I was younger, and even up to now, I love to use the computer to surf the internet and play games. How about you? Are you addicted to the computer?
To help you write your reflection, I have listed some questions below:
1. How many hours a day do you spend on the computer?
2. Are you addicted to the computer? If 'yes', how do you become addicted to it? If 'no', how have you managed to remain unaddicted?
3. How has this addiction affect you daily life/routine? (If you're not addicted to the computer, you need not answer this question)
4. Is your school work affected by the time you spend on the computer? Elaborate.
5. What can you do to prevent Cyber Addiction?
6. What advice would you give to your friend who is addicted to computer games?
I hope to read your reflection soon.
Best Regards,
Mr Ng

I do not think I am addicted to the computer.I have done so by making a timetable on how to spend my time wisely between playing and studying. With this timetable made by me I need not worry about wasting my time.
In this way my school work is not affected by my computer. There are many ways to prevent cyber addiction. One way is to set an alarm clock to remind you when to stop palying the computer. The other way as I have told above is to make a timetable.
I would advice him to stop playing computer games as it might affect his studies. That is all I have to say about cyber addiction at the moment. Hope you have enjoyed.

T3W3 Journal Writing : Effects of Preventive Measures on Pupils
Hi Everyone,Since we returned to school two weeks ago, we had to take our temperature twice a day. Some of the pupils could not return to school because they were on leave of absence. Our remedial, CCA and other activities have been cancelled or postponed. In this week's reflection, I would like you to discuss how all these have affected you.
I have listed some questions below to help you with your reflection:
1. What do you think of the school's preventive measures for H1N1 such as temperature-taking, no assembly in the hall, cancellation of remedial lessons, CCA and other activities?
2. Which activities have affected you?
3. How has the cancellation of these activities affect you in your learning?
4. Do you think the school is less interesting now? Why?
5. Are you relationship with your friends and teachers affected? If 'yes', in what way/s?
6. What do you do with the extra time you have now?
7. Are you activities outside school affected?
I hope to read your reflection soon. Start writing immediately.
Mr Ng
Today I am going to talk about the effective measures taken in sschools to prevent the spreding of H1N1.I think that temparature - taking no assembly in hall, cancellation of remedial classes CCA and other activities was important as without it there would have been more cases of H1N1.Now with these restictions if one person is infected only the class would be affected not the
whole school.
To me the cancellation of High-achiever/remedial classes and CCA have affected me.To me school is less interesting now as there is no more fun without CCA's but as you know you have to sacrifice somethings for another.
However my relationship with my teacher's and friends have not been affected . As you know we can still talk over the phone and chat with each other.
Now I get some extra time due the cancellation of the activities. With the extra time I study and play.
Finally,I hope that the activities resume soon.

Hi Everyone,
We now have two cases of the Influenza A H1N1 in Malaysia. Will there be a case in Singapore? How much do you understand about this virus? For this week, I would like you to reflect on this topic. To help you, I will list some questions below:
1. What is Influenza A H1N1?
2. How does it spread?
3. Which countries in Asia have people with Influenza A H1N1?
4. How do countries try to prevent the spread of this disease?
5. Do you think the taking of temperature is effective in preventing Influenza A H1N1? Why?
6. What other preventive measures are being taken to combat the spread of this disease in Singapore?
7. What are you doing to prevent the spread of Influenza A H1N1 disease?
Hope to read your journal soon.
Mr Ng
Today I am going to talk about Influenza A H1F1.This is a very contagious virus which can spread easily. This virus has caused hundreds of deaths. Until now about thousands people have been affected.
This disease spread from one human to another. It is a virus that has started from pigs. Then it is spread from human to human.
In Asia,Malaysia,China,India,Japan and some other countries. These are trying their best to prevent these diseases. One way they do that is by wearing masks on their mouths.
In my opinion temperature taking is quite effective because you can know whether you have fever, one of the symptoms.
In Singapore people are given injections to prevent themselves from getting Influenza A H1N1.I also try to prevent this seasonal flu by keeping my hygiene standards very high . I wash my hands before eating and after going to the toilet.
That is all I have to say now.Hope you have learnt more about this seasonal flu.
